Today, right across Sky, we’re all extending a very warm welcome to global sports star David Beckham OBE, who is joining us in an exciting long-term partnership to get more people involved in sport.

David is a sporting icon and an incredible role model for millions of young people. In his role as a Sky ambassador, he’ll play a leading role in our work to support grassroots sport. In particular, he will help us to use the power of sport in schools through the successful Sky Sports Living for Sport initiative, which uses sports skills and athlete mentors to inspire young people to learn new skills and improve their lives.

Earlier this week, David met a few of the 30,000 young people across Britain who take part in Sky Sports Living for Sports each year. David shared his huge passion for sport with the group and told us more about why he was keen to get involved.

I have an 17 year old son (D.OB 0/06/95) He is at Cheadle&Marple college, Stockport for Travel & Tourism and on his second year. Josh is also doing volountary football coaching, for Fletcher Moss, Manchester, United Kingdom, Head coach is David Horrocks. He is very passionate about this and the 2 years he has been doing it he has never missed a saturday, Unless it has been called off due to bad weather. I am wondering and hoping that there is something you have and that Josh can do and start off his dream. Many thanks and look forward to hearing from You, Gillian Hale
