Eamonn Holmes: Hello there. I’m Eamonn Holmes, and this is Sky News. Today we have a special report about Sky Skills Studios, so let’s go straight to our reporter, who is live at Westminster.
Kishore: Thanks, Eamonn. Today we’re bringing you an important report. Let’s find out more.
Voice-over: Sky Skills Studios aims to raise aspirations of young people through a free learning experience that links to the curriculum and builds life skills.
Florian: I’m really excited to be in Sky today.
Voice-over: Teachers select one of 16 topics from five subject areas: Science, Maths, English, Sport, and Citizenship. Students explore the topic using our educational resources designed to meet curriculum objectives.
Jennifer: I think the topic's really relevant to things they study in school.
Voice-over: The experience starts with a tour of Sky Studios, where students see media professionals at work and learn how we make, shape, and share television content.
Cheyenne: It’s been a real eye-opener.
Sophie: It was just really fun being on stages.
Voice-over: Then, they get stuck-in themselves, in four studios specially designed for young people aged 8 to 18 to create their own TV report.
Rebecca: We’ve brought a certain age group today, but it could definitely be adapted to other age groups.
Voice-over: Students shoot and edit their report using cutting-edge technology, including broadcast-quality cameras, green screens, and touch screen edit tables.
Sanjeev: I think this is fantastic that I’ve seen the technology.
Oliver: All the software that you can use... I think it’s pretty impressive.
Voice-over: The students will be divided into teams.
Unidentified Student: You need to listen to each other’s ideas.
Voice-over: And each have their own roles to perform.
Donya: I was the script writer. I helped the presenter.
Voice-over: Gaining valuable insight into the world of work and building life skills.
Pippa: They’ve communicated. They’ve solved problems. They have thought creatively.
Voice-over: In each studio, specialised staff will be on hand to support students as they create their report.
Sarah: The reason they’ve been able to be so relaxed and so confident is because of the team leaders.
Voice-over: This inspiring experience is open to all primary and secondary schools and easy for schools to organise.
Sarah: I would absolutely 100% recommend this experience to any teacher in any school.
Cheyenne: The atmosphere here with all the adults... and you've been able to have fun with your friends as well as being able to, you know, link the education into it. It’s kind of learning without realising.
Anum: It’s a new experience and I’m definitely glad I got to come.
Kishore: Thanks, everyone. This is Kishore, reporting for Sky News in Westminster. Back to you, Eamonn.
Eamonn Holmes: Thank you very much indeed. That’s the end of this breaking news. I’m Eamonn Holmes. Thank you for watching.
