Interviewer: So Jeremy, what exactly is The Bigger Picture?

Jeremy Darroch: Well, right at the heart of our business at Sky is a commitment to build our business for the long term, a business that’s more sustainable, more durable, and is not solely focused on short-term delivery, but thinks broadly about how do we develop long-term sources of success. And key to that is acting responsibly, and making a broad contribution to the communities that we operate in, and The Bigger Picture is really the way that we pull a lot of that activity together, and put it right at the heart of our business strategy.

Interviewer: So what are the main areas where that work of The Bigger Picture is focused?

Jeremy Darroch: Acting and behaving responsibly is critical to everything that we do, so whether that be product safety, our editorial integrity, how we deal with customers, suppliers and employees is really at the heart of our activity. But beyond that, we’re really focused on four key areas to develop The Bigger Picture programme more generally, so: the environment, our work in sport, our work in the arts, and, increasingly now, our work now with schools.

Interviewer: So a whole lot of things there, but why is this so important?

Jeremy Darroch: Well, first of all, we think it’s the right thing to do, and that’s why we’ve put it right at the heart of our business. We’re a big business now, in the UK and Ireland, and we think it’s incredibly important that we act responsibly and appropriately and across all of our operations. And we have got a broad footprint, and we know that, you know, we can reach out, and we can have a positive impact, and not just in terms of our business results, but certainly in terms of the communities that we live and work in, and the people that we come across. But we also know that it’s good for our business. It’s an important way that we can build trust, and as we build trust, particularly in our customers, then we know that they are more loyal to Sky, and they like what we do, they like this activity, and so it’s very central to our overall business direction and success, I think.
