Our Content teams are responsible for getting great TV content to air. From the production and commissioning of shows, through to the editing, scheduling and transmission of great television, including all of the complex processes that go on behind the scenes.

We’re looking for smart, talented school leavers, who are as passionate about the future of television as we are, to join our Content Apprenticeship Programme.

We’re open minded about what your success looks like; you could have impressive academic results, interesting extra-curricular activities and/or achievements or work experience. Above all, you’ll be passionate about the world of TV from making it to promoting it.

You’ll be inquisitive, eager to learn, flexible and comfortable to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

Broadcast Operations is predominantly focused on the areas of Production, Post Production and Content Services comprising all the operational craft skills associated with television programme making. These teams of specialist operators can work across a variety of programmes from News to Sport to Live Theatre in our newly built state-of-the-art Sky Studios or equally on location at one of our many Outside Broadcast events.

Over 3,000 Engineers install and service Sky equipment and bring the Sky vision to life. Our Engineers are regarded as advocates for Sky and often go the extra mile to make sure that customers get the best from our products and services and enjoy great viewing.

All of our Engineers are assisted by a brilliant support team who make sure that we deliver great customer service throughout all day-to-day activities.

As an Apprentice in our Field Team, you'll service and install Sky equipment into customers’ homes, from fitting the satellite dish and set-top box to all the cabling in-between. You'll need to possess excellent customer service skills, a high level of fitness, basic level of numeracy and literacy skills  and a flexible ”can-do”  approach to work. We’ll provide you with the necessary training and support to learn the job.

On satisfactory qualification of our Apprenticeship Programme you’ll become a fully-qualified Installation Engineer and be accredited with a Digital Satellite Installation and Health & Safety Working Practices qualification along with an accreditation in Customer Services.

The Sky brand is one of the most marketable around, and our Marketing, Brand and PR teams have a busy time making sure that Sky remains the number one choice for our customers, and as such it is one of our most demanding areas of the business.

Our Marketing Apprenticeship programme will give you the chance to get involved in one of our areas of marketing – this could be anywhere from online and direct marketing, to brand management or research and strategy. We’ll offer you all the responsibility you can manage and you’ll also study for an Advanced Diploma Level 3 in Marketing while you work.

As part of Marketing, there are also vacancies within Sky Creative. This is an internal creative resource for the whole of Sky, providing services to our Channels such as Sky Sports and Sky Atlantic and supporting Corporate Communications. The team is organised around six creative areas such as Product & Brand and Events, all of which are ably supported by our Planning, Production and Campaign Management functions. 

This programme will give you the opportunity to specialise in one of the creative areas that make up our department but you will gain exposure to a number of disciplines during your time with us. As part of the scheme you will also study for a Diploma in Creative and Digital Media to support the work you undertake and your personal development.

Broadcast Services is responsible for the design, development, operation and support of Sky’s broadcast infrastructure, which includes content capture, production, post production and distribution. It operates broadcast and transmission centres, and is responsible for conditional access (CA) services, including content security, operation of the CA platform and associated testing.

This is an exciting way to gain valuable work experience, leading to a professional qualification (Diploma in ICT Professional Competence) and take your passion for broadcast and technology to the next level. Broadcast Services supports the ‘On Demand’ platform and the development of our electronic programming guide – this apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to rotate through the applications we support & experience the business areas we service. You’ll also have the chance to use some of your other IT skills by working on some software development.

We’re looking for smart, talented school leavers, with at least 5 GCSEs or equivalent, who are as passionate about broadcast and technology as we are. You'll be a team player who learns quickly and shares knowledge readily, takes ownership of your performance and development, focuses on delivering results and shares our commitment to top quality customer service. An excellent working knowledge of MS Office products is desirable.

The Technology CIS Apprenticeship Programme is an exciting way to gain valuable work experience, leading to a professional accredited qualification (Diploma in ICT Professional Competence), and a fantastic start to your career with Sky. Take your passion for technology further with our fantastic programme.

We’re looking for smart, talented school leavers who are as passionate about the future of technology as we are. Ideally you’ll have some experience with programming languages, networks and servers, as well as operating systems, and although Maths at A-Level/Higher would be an advantage, it’s not a necessity. At Sky we use open source tools and web technologies such as Java, Groovy and Grails, PHP as well as web languages like HTML, CSS and JQuery, and from there we’ll train you towards a role as an Apprentice Software Developer or Tester.

We have two key areas on the Programme, Development or Operations.

Within the Development team you’ll be working on exciting projects like customer facing websites and applications, Sky.com, Sky Sports and Sky News for iPad apps.

If you prefer the Operations side, you’ll be working on the infrastructure that supports all our major applications across technology, from our web applications to staff email and messaging.  Operations at Sky make sure that the business delivers its products and services, daily and without fail, whilst also looking for areas of improvement and innovation.

Network Implementation Apprentice

Our third Apprenticeship on offer is in the Network Implementation team. This team is responsible for the planning, scheduling, and management and co-ordination of activities to implement equipment in the network, from initial forecasts through to the handover of live equipment into operations.  The team also have responsibility for routine maintenance, quality assurance, and some operational support activities across the network.
