Introduction

We have opportunities within Technology where you could become a Developer working across our portfolio of award-winning Apps and websites; or if working with our Broadband and Talk teams seems more like your thing, then our range of roles within Sky Network Services are well worth exploring.

If you're more creative-minded we've got opportunities in both our Marketing and Creative departments which will allow you to get under the skin of one of the biggest brands around; or work on every aspect of programme development within our Broadcasting department.

At Sky, we have two Apprenticeship programmes where you'll be working directly with our customers, working in our installation division visiting customer's homes or even training to be an Advisor in one of our Contact Centres across our Customer Services Group.

Broadcast Operations

Our Content teams are responsible for getting great TV content to air. From the production and commissioning of shows, through to the editing, scheduling and transmission of great television, including all of the complex processes that go on behind the scenes.

We’re looking for smart, talented school leavers, who are as passionate about the future of television as we are, to join our Content Apprenticeship Programme.

We’re open minded about what your success looks like; you could have impressive academic results, interesting extra-curricular activities and/or achievements or work experience. Above all, you’ll be passionate about the world of TV from making it to promoting it.

You’ll be inquisitive, eager to learn, flexible and comfortable to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

Broadcast Operations is predominantly focused on the areas of Production, Post Production and Content Services comprising all the operational craft skills associated with television programme making. These teams of specialist operators can work across a variety of programmes from News to Sport to Live Theatre in our newly built state-of-the-art Sky Studios or equally on location at one of our many Outside Broadcast events.

The one year apprenticeship provides people with a great opportunity to join our exciting company and earn while they learn. The apprentices are employed within Customer Operations on a full - time basis and study towards BSkyB Customer Service training & achievement of the NVQ Certificate in Customer Service (a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification). This specially tailored training and mentor support will help prepare you for a career with Sky. 

We’re looking for bright young people with brilliant communication skills who with a fantastic training program, can develop their skills to really to understand customers’ entertainment needs, resolve any issues or match them to our fantastic products and services.

As an apprentice in one of our contact centres you’ll take calls from our customers who need your help; show that you understand where they're coming from and do everything you can to help them get the solution they need.

Customer Service Group - Home Service & Supply

We’re looking for enthusiastic, positive individuals, who are as passionate about customer services as we are. You’ll meet lots of different people every day and offer them the kind of amazing customer service that you’d love to receive. As the face of Sky, you’ll get out and about, installing and servicing our equipment and doing everything you can to help your customers get the most out of their Sky package.

Our Engineers are the face of Sky and always go the extra mile to make sure that customers get the best from our products and services and enjoy great viewing. Joining a team as varied and diverse as the customers we serve, you’ll help bring each one of their homes to life by connecting them to our exciting entertainment and inspiring technology.

At times, it can be pretty physical. So, as part of a supportive, field-based, customer focused team, you’ll need a head for heights and be happy to work outside in all kinds of weather. You’ll enjoy a degree of independence and autonomy too, visiting our customers by yourself. Of course, our 5 weeks accredited training in every aspect of the job and continued field mentoring, will make sure you know exactly what you’re doing. Your personality, customer service skills, practical ability and full driving licence are more important to us than any specialist technical or engineering knowledge.

Marketing & Creative

Discover a new and exciting way to gain valuable work experience, leading to a professional qualification and a fantastic start to your career with Sky.

The Sky brand is one of the most marketable around, and our Marketing, Brand and PR teams have a busy time making sure that Sky remains the number one choice for our customers, and as such it is one of our most demanding areas of the business.

Our Marketing Apprenticeship programme will give you the chance to get involved in one of our areas of marketing – this could be anywhere from online and direct marketing, to brand management or research and strategy. We’ll offer you all the responsibility you can manage and you’ll also study for an Advanced Diploma Level 3 in Marketing while you work.

As part of Marketing, there are also vacancies within Sky Creative. This is an internal creative resource for the whole of Sky, providing services to our Channels such as Sky Sports and Sky Atlantic and supporting Corporate Communications. The team is organised around six creative areas such as Product & Brand and Events, all of which are ably supported by our Planning, Production and Campaign Management functions. 

This programme will give you the opportunity to specialise in one of the creative areas that make up our department but you will gain exposure to a number of disciplines during your time with us. As part of the scheme you will also study for a Diploma in Creative and Digital Media to support the work you undertake and your personal development.

For both of these programmes, we’re looking for smart, talented school leavers, who have completed their A-Levels or equivalent and are as excited about all aspects of marketing as we are. We’re open-minded about what how you have achieved so far. Whether it’s been through impressive academic results, extra-curricular activities or even work experience, we want to see you’re passionate about both Marketing and Sky. Technology - Broadcast Services

Broadcast Services is responsible for the design, development, operation and support of Sky’s broadcast infrastructure, which includes content capture, production, post production and distribution. It operates broadcast and transmission centres, and is responsible for conditional access (CA) services, including content security, operation of the CA platform and associated testing.

This is an exciting way to gain valuable work experience, leading to a professional qualification (Diploma in ICT Professional Competence) and take your passion for broadcast and technology to the next level. Broadcast Services supports the ‘On Demand’ platform and the development of our electronic programming guide – this apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to rotate through the applications we support & experience the business areas we service. You’ll also have the chance to use some of your other IT skills by working on some software development.

We’re looking for smart, talented school leavers, with at least 5 GCSEs or equivalent, who are as passionate about broadcast and technology as we are. You'll be a team player who learns quickly and shares knowledge readily, takes ownership of your performance and development, focuses on delivering results and shares our commitment to top quality customer service. An excellent working knowledge of MS Office products is desirable.

Technology - Customer Information Systems

The Technology CIS Apprenticeship Programme is an exciting way to gain valuable work experience, leading to a professional accredited qualification (Diploma in ICT Professional Competence), and a fantastic start to your career with Sky. Take your passion for technology further with our fantastic programme.

We’re looking for smart, talented school leavers who are as passionate about the future of technology as we are. Ideally you’ll have some experience with programming languages, networks and servers, as well as operating systems, and although Maths at A-Level/Higher would be an advantage, it’s not a necessity. At Sky we use open source tools and web technologies such as Java, Groovy and Grails, PHP as well as web languages like HTML, CSS and JQuery, and from there we’ll train you towards a role as an Apprentice Software Developer or Tester.

We have two key areas on the Programme, Development or Operations.

Within the Development team you’ll be working on exciting projects like customer facing websites and applications, Sky.com, Sky Sports and Sky News for iPad apps.

If you prefer the Operations side, you’ll be working on the infrastructure that supports all our major applications across technology, from our web applications to staff email and messaging.  Operations at Sky make sure that the business delivers its products and services, daily and without fail, whilst also looking for areas of improvement and innovation.

Technology - Sky Network Services

Customer Reliability Apprentice

If you’re used to delivering excellent customer service, then Customer Reliability could be for you. It’ll be your responsibility to make sure our customers receive the required support in relation to broadband and telephony queries, while at the same time identifying areas for system and process improvement with a view to implementing in-house as well as across our contact centres.

Sky Voice and Broadband Operations Apprentice

Osterley, West London 

If you feel you’re more suited to problem-solving, then your skills would be best put to use as a Sky Voice and Broadband Operations Apprentice (SVBO). This is an operational arm of technology that makes sure our customers are receiving their Sky Broadband and Talk just as they would expect to in line with regulations.

Network Implementation Apprentice

Slough 

Our third Apprenticeship on offer is in the Network Implementation team. This team is responsible for the planning, scheduling, and management and co-ordination of activities to implement equipment in the network, from initial forecasts through to the handover of live equipment into operations.  The team also have responsibility for routine maintenance, quality assurance, and some operational support activities across the network.
