We’re sorry but applications for the 2013 intake have now closed. But don’t worry they’ll re-open in September for the 2014 intake.

Discover a place where you’ll continue to learn and develop your skills and get your first taste of working in TV. You’ll gain valuable work experience and be able to explore a fantastic future, filled with excitement and potential. Take your passion for media and entertainment further with our fantastic up to 12 months Fast Forward Work Placement.

We’re committed to opening up opportunities in the media sector to young people from all backgrounds and particularly want to support the best young local talent. This placement is open to 14 schools in the London Borough of Hounslow.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for smart, talented Year 13 students with a strong interest in media and entertainment. You’ll have great communication and numeracy skills and be a team player. You’ll need to use your initiative, multi-task several jobs at once and solve problems quickly and efficiently.

"If I was to sum up my experience in a few words it would have to be exciting, fast–paced and truly rewarding."

We have five key areas on the Scheme and will be asking you to tell us your preference in your application:

Broadcast Operations

This team of over 700 people makes sure that we provide customers with the best possible experience – from the pictures they see and the sound they hear, to choosing what they watch. Starting within Client Services (the vital link between these resources and the production teams) you’ll get an overview of how all the departments fit together before moving to Editing and other areas of the production process such as Camera, Sound and Studios

Entertainment

A placement in our Entertainment area will mean working across
all our fantastic channels, from Sky5_Entertainment Movies to Sky Atlantic to Sky Living and more. You’ll work within many exciting departments like Acquisitions who choose the programming we buy, Commissioning who develop the ideas for high quality factual programmes and Scheduling where programme plans are developed and finalised before airing.

Sky News

Starting as a "runner" within our state-of-the-art news centre you’ll gain experience across all functions of Sky News – News Gathering, Operations, TV Production, Sky News Radio, Online and Active. You’ll research and provide information that reaches  an audience of millions via Sky News HD, skynews.com and Sky News Radio.

Sky Creative

In this award winning, busy and exciting creative team, you’ll
work across many areas from 5_Sky Creativeprogramme graphics, set design,
on air promotion, channel and corporate branding, to sponsorship
credits, navigation and continuity as well as pre and post production visual effects. Your experience will also cover many aspects of off-air advertising (press and outdoor media etc) and design for channel, programmes, marketing, platform and corporate areas.

Sky Sports

The UK’s leading sports broadcaster, Sky Sports has changed the face of UK sports programming over the last 20 years. Here you’ll experience the many stages of getting a television programme to air; from being a studio runner, to watching and cataloguing key moments in live sporting events and contributing your creative ideas for how a finished programme should look.

"This scheme will give students life experience that will help them immensely in whatever they choose to do after the scheme."
